Color: I was initially a bit hesitant to purchase this as I was unable to find it in the cool undertone line anywhere. I got so frustrated I finally went to the L'Oreal website and found out that they do not make any cool toned concealers in this variety. Frankly, I am a bit surprised by that. I know they are notorious for not producing deep tones, but L'Oreal normally has lots of good options for more fair tones, including pink undertones. I still wanted to try the crayon concealer so I picked up the lightest neutral N 1-2-3. Surprisingly, it worked really well. The neutral color works particularly well on any red spots on my face. That being said, if you are very cool toned, this might not be the best option for you.
Packaging/Design: I find the design of this product really easy to use. One of the main appeals of the crayon design for me is that I can use it on blemishes and not worry about contaminating the whole tube (as is the case with the Super Blendable Concealer). The tip is very easy to clean and stays in shape well The cap fits securely on the crayon and there are ridges to make sure it stays in place. The crayon twists up to yield more product, but after using this for a month to give it a fair go, I still haven't had to twist the cap.
Performance: I have two main concerns in concealers. 1) I need something to help with my under eye area as I have a little bit of darkness. Thus, I need a concealer that will blend well without settling into lines. 2) I have a bit of redness around my nose, so I want a concealer that will stay put. The L'Oreal Super Blendable Crayon Concealer performs exceptionally well on the second point. It gives good coverage without feeling cakey and is very blendable. It also lasts very well both alone, or under or above foundation. Unfortunately, it was not as blendable under the eye. I found the product to be a little too stiff for the delicate skin under the eye. I tried using both my finger and my Tarte under eye concealer brush. I also found that it did settle into fine lines. It became more blendable if I applied directly after using an under eye cream, but I like to wait until after doing my eye make up to apply concealer under the eye.
Would I purchase this again? Absolutely, but I will still hold onto my other True Match concealer for under the eye. The crayon shape is perfect for applying just the right amount of product to a blemish or red area. It also has fuller coverage than the other True Match concealer. Finally, I would like to note that this product has almost no smell, which I really appreciate.
Have you given this a try? Are you a fan of the L'Oreal True Match line?
