For the beginner: The Body Shop Shimmer Cubes Palette
These quads come with four little cubes and are packed with shimmer. It is hard to overdo the makeup with these. They are great for younger women who are learning about makeup as the shimmer gives them a little something extra. These come in multiple color varieties including a nude palette and a multi color palette. These retail for $22 but are often on sale, making them very affordable.
For the natural beauty: Urban Decay Naked Palettes
These two palettes are best sellers for a reason. If your eye shadow lover doesn't yet own these, she would certainly be lusting after them. I think the Holidays is the perfect time to buy people something a bit more high end that they might not purchase for themselves. You cannot go wrong with either of these palettes. These retail for $50 each and are well worth it!
For the adventurer: Urban Decay Vice Palette
Yes, this list is a bit Urban Decay heavy, but I believe they make some of the best eye shadows available. The recently released Vice Palette hosts a bevy of fun and adventurous colors that your favorite eye shadow junkie certainly won't have yet! This palette retails for $59.
For the on the go girl: Bare Minerals Prime Time Primer Shadows
These are perfect for the person who needs long wearing makeup or is always on the go. These combine a primer and shadow in one. They are perfect for both those who need long wearing makeup and are short on time in the morning. Bonus: They fit easily in a purse and are small enough for airport travel. These normally retail for $18 but are currently on sale for $12 through Bare Minerals.
For the classic quad aficionado: Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quads
Both the variety and quality of these palettes are fantastic. I own several and have never been disappointed. The color selection ranges from classic nudes to trendy jewel tones to bright blues. These look very sleek in their classic black packaging. They make the perfect gift for a friend or stocking stuffer for a loved one. These retail for $9 but are often on sale for around $6.
Maybe you have a lot of people you need to buy for (I remember my high school days and having to buy everyone on the volleyball team a gift) or you are just budget conscious. Any of these three options would be great options. L'Oreal's Infallible Eyeshadows are so chic and come in a variety of fun colors. They make nice stocking stuffers and will appeal to a more mature crowd. These retail for around $7 each. Wet n Wild's Color Icon Eyeshadow trios and collections make perfect gifts for younger women, especially those still experimenting with makeup. The trios retail for around $3, while the pans sell for around $5.
Will you be giving anyone eye shadows or eye palettes this year? What are your top selections?
