OPI Germany Collection: Danke-Shiny Red + Dupe Search

Overall, the new OPI Germany collection wasn't quite my cup of tea. I'm holding out for the Bond collection coming out for the holidays. That being said, I can't pass up a beautiful red, so I snagged Danke-Shiny Red at my local ULTA. I realized as soon as I put it on that it reminded me of one of my favorite polishes, but more on that later.

Color
Danke-Shiny Red is a beautiful bright red shimmer. It is just slightly more yellow than a true red, but certainly is not orange. This polish is completely luminous and looks like it is on fire! It has so much depth and beauty to it. I know I probably don't need another red in my collection, but this is really truly gorgeous!

Dupe Search
That being said, it is nearly identical to my absolute favorite red of all time - OPI An Affair in Red Square. While they aren't exact dupes, they are really only a half shade off. An Affair in Red Square is more blue and Danke-Shiny Red is more orange (barely). When I had them on for comparison, I had to keep referencing which nail was which. If you already have An Affair in Red Square, you probably don't need this unless you are a red connoisseur.  Danke-Shiny Red feels a bit more fiery and feisty than An Affair in Red Square as well. I also compared this to Friar, Friar Pants on Fire, which is far more orange and bright. In the pictures below, Danke-Shiny Red is on the middle finger, while An Affair in Red Square is on the ring finger and Friar, Friar Pants on Fire is on the pointer finger.

Formula
Formula wise, Danke-Shiny Red applied beautifully. It is essentially a one coater, but I used two for good measure. It doesn't dry as shiny as An Affair in Red Square, so I definitely recommend a top coat to bring out the red shimmer. I was also very impressed that this didn't stain at all, even without a base coat. Well done, OPI!

What are your thoughts on the Germany collection and Danke-Shiny Red?

Stay beautiful!
