Orly Mysterious Curse - Swatches and Review

I know my blog has been a bit nail heavy, but I have been really inspired by recent nail polish releases. Orly wowed me with their Cool Romance collection and now they have come out with the Dark Shadows mini collection based on the movie by Tim Burton. I love cross promotions like this and was really excited to see the polishes in person. I was most excited about Mysterious Curse and picked it up immediately - by pestering my local Sally's lady to go into the stock room and find it for me.

Mysterious Curse is a gorgeous blue and purple shimmer. This is pretty much the ultimate blurple. This borders on a duochrome, but doesn't quite get there. It does have a beautiful plum undertone that mixes with the bright blue shimmer in a delightfully fun way. There is something really refreshing about picking up a dark and fun color during the spring season when everyone else is sporting neons and bright shimmers. That being said, this color will also be perfect for Halloween!

The formula on this was a bit thick, but it evened out after two thin coats. I was a bit unsure if this would reach opacity given the sheerness of the first coat, but it was fine in two. All the swatches you see feature three coats to even it out. This polish is also incredibly shiny all on its own - these photos are without a top coat.

With flash to show the duochrome effect.

I have been trying to reduce the number of polishes I purchase as of late, but I could not pass up Mysterious Curse. It is a really beautiful and unique color. Will you be adding this to your collection?

Stay beautiful!
