Thanksgiving Mani - OPI Brisbane Bronze + Essie Luxeffects Shine of the Times

Happy Thanksgiving! I love this holiday - the celebration of the harvest and the history behind it. I'm not a big Black Friday shopper, and this year I feel like the shopping has taken over the holiday, so I decided to do a Thanksgiving manicure. I wanted to evoke the feel of falling leaves and test drive the bottle of Shine of the Times I picked up yesterday, so I decided to layer OPI Brisbane Bronze with Essie Shine of the Times. This post is a bit pic heavy as I wanted to really capture the essence of the mani!

Brisbane Bronze is a spot on bronze shimmer. It almost looks like a foil, but is a true metallic. It was opaque in two coats and is simply stunning. It really glitters on its own and has gold undertones with a hint of red - rather than green which we see in some bronze polishes. This is definitely a polish you should have in your collection!
On top, I added a layer of Essie Shine of the Times  - the most anticipated polish from the Luxeffects collection. I was so excited to find it at ULTA yesterday as I have been coveting a flakie for a while but refuse to pay online shipping costs for some of the lovely Nubar flakies. I really love the way this manicure turned out. Unfortunately, as Brisbane Bronze has some shimmer to it and is in the golden family, the flakies in Shine of the Times didn't photograph as well as I wanted. In person, the manicure is simply gorgeous and is very subtle. It really achieved the look I was going for.

The application of Shine of the Times was great! I have had some trouble with Essie polishes in the past, but this formula was thick but not goopy. It distributed a nice even coat of flakes with each stroke, and I was very surprised by the amount of flakes I got in each pass. One coat was all I needed! I'm also loving the duochrome effect of these flakes. Simply stunning!

There you have it folks - my Thanksgiving manicure! Be prepared for me to go on a holiday nail polish rampage the next couple of weeks. I love holiday manicures and have some layering ideas in mind!

Stay beautiful and festive!
